| Hello! I'm Wanda Lutker,
a trained hypnotherapist Certified by the National Guild
of Hypnotists, the largest organization of hypnotists in
the world. To remain in good standing with the
Guild, I must undergo an additional 15 hours of
education per year to stay up-to-date with the latest
techniques in the field. I received my
certification as a hypnotherapist and self-hypnosis
instructor from Mottin and Johnson Institute of Hypnosis
in St. Louis, Missouri. I currently practice
Hypnosis in St. Louis County and Jefferson County in
Missouri. With this website I
hope to show hypnosis as it truly is; a wonderful way of
communicating with your inner mind, your powerful
creative sub-conscious mind. Most experts will
agree that hypnosis is an altered state of the conscious
mind where the sub-conscious mind is open to suggestions
that it can accept as true. Hypnotherapy is the
use of trance and suggestion to adjust the habits of
thought, feelings and behavior of normal people. A
hypnotist does not possess any type of power or gift,
but rather, has the ability to give suggestions the
subconscious mind will accept and then act on in a
positive and helpful way thereby making any change the
client wishes to make.
Hypnosis and its uses in the practice of hypnotherapy
are rapidly emerging as a highly effective science in
solving the problems of people. Yet few procedures
are less understood or more plagued by misconceptions.
Many new clients, when asked what they think hypnosis
is, reply with answers ranging from sleep, to
unconsciousness, to surrender of control to magic.
All of these answers are in error.
Hypnosis cannot be sleep since, in most cases, the
client is fully aware of communication as the
hypnotist's voice guides them. Nor is
unconsciousness involved as the client is able to comply
with a request to make a movement. An example
would be nodding the head when asked. THERE IS NO
SURRENDER OF MIND OR CONTROL. A person that
doesn't want to be hypnotized cannot be hypnotized or be
induced to do or say anything that violates personal
standards of behavior or integrity. In the same
way there is no magic involved in hypnosis but, rather,
the client allows his or her body and mind to completely
and totally relax similar to right before going to
sleep. As this happens, the conscious mind drifts
aside and the subconscious mind, which is the seat of
all memory, at this point is open and receptive to
suggestions changing any habit, thought or feeling that
the client wants changed or stopped.
